Williams interviews Wallerstein

Gregory P. Williams, a POLS Ph.D. candidate, has published a recent interview with Immanuel Wallerstein. The piece, “Retrospective on the Origins of World-Systems Analysis,” appears in the latest issue of the Journal of World-Systems Research. In it, Wallerstein reflects with candor about Columbia University and the events that encouraged the development of his vision of historical social science. Williams’ accompanying essay contextualizes Wallerstein’s thought within the crisis of 1968 and the popular uprisings of today. The interview also draws connections between political struggle, the tools of social science, and the instability of global capitalism.
