His works include Perception and Misperception in International Politics (Princeton University Press, 1976), The Meaning of the Nuclear Revolution (Cornell University Press, 1989), System Effects: Complexity in Political and Social Life (Princeton University Press, 1997), American Foreign Policy in a New Era (Routledge, 2005), Why Intelligence Fails: Lessons from the Fall of the Shah and Iraqi WMD (Cornell University Press, forthcoming), and several edited volumes as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals.
