In memory: Prof. Norman Kogan

From Dr. Mark Boyer, Professor and Department Head, Political Science:

“It is with sadness that I write to let you know that our emeritus colleague Norman Kogan recently passed away. In our department, Norman specialized in Comparative Western Europe with a real passion for and knowledge of Italian politics. Beyond political science, Norman was an accomplished violinist who enjoyed playing in the Manchester Orchestra for many years among other musical groups. Further combining his interests in Italy and music, Norman also truly loved opera. So please join me in expressing our sincere condolences to his wife, Meryl, and the rest of his family and friends.”

In 2003, Prof. Kogan was awarded the inaugural Career Achievement Award by the Conference Group on Italian Politics and Society of the American Political Science Association. His books include Italy and the Allies, The Government of Italy, and The Politics of Italian Foreign Policy.
