Scruggs to Speak on “Information, Choice & Political Consumption”

Your colloquium committee is delighted to announce the first of a series of “First Wednesday” research talks this semester:

Professor Lyle Scruggs
“Information, Choice and Political Consumption: Human Rights in the Checkout Lane.”

Wednesday, February 2,
Monteith 119
12pm

Our hope is that “First Wednesday” will become an additional venue for sharing research projects, building upon the excellent advances in shaping a strong intellectual culture that faculty and graduate colleagues can enjoy. In particular, we hope to stand in a synergistic relationship with the superb “Politics & Pizza” Friday series, which remains our bedrock venue. “First Wednesday”, then, will provide further opportunities – and an alternative time slot – for maximizing our intellectual life.

“First Wednesday” talks for Spring 2011 (all Monteith 119, at 12):

2/2: Prof. Lyle Scruggs, “Information, Choice and Political Consumption: Human Rights in the Checkout Lane.”

3/2: Prof. Mark Boyer, “Governing Climate Change: Transboundary Problems and the Challenges of Multi-Level Policy-Making,”

4/6: Prof. Matt Singer, TBA.
